Background

Sri Satya Sai Campus, Sehore

Sri Satya Sai Campus, Sehore came into existence in 1999 with the establishment of Sri Satya Sai Institute of Science & Technology (SSSIST). Initially, SSSIST offered three branches in engineering education with a total intake of 180 students.

By 2012, driven by the vision of its promoters, the Sehore Campus had expanded to twelve colleges, offering twenty undergraduate courses, twenty postgraduate courses, one postgraduate diploma, and one diploma course, with a total intake of 3054 students. The Sri Satya Sai Group of Institutions attracted students from across states due to its commitment to quality education at affordable costs, without hidden fees.

Over fourteen years, the institutions under this group became the only providers of technical education in Sehore and six nearby districts, serving students from more than six thousand villages and 34 tehsils. With 80.6% of the population living at low standards of living and agriculture as the primary occupation, the group played a vital role in uplifting education. The region’s growth rate was recently recorded at 21.5%.

The literacy rate of Sehore district rose to 71.11% in 2011, compared to 63.07% in 2001. Male literacy increased from 77.28% (2001) to 82.37% (2011), while female literacy rose from 47.36% to 58.86% in the same period. Notably, 9% of mothers between 17–55 years of age can read, a figure expected to grow further. The Sri Satya Sai Group of Institutions can humbly claim a role in these improvements.

With the establishment of Sri Satya Sai University of Technology & Medical Sciences, the overall educational scenario is expected to improve even further.
